For this purpose, Interstate has secured Evergreen International Airlines, a renowned Cargo Airline flying Boeing 747 Freighters worldwide. Silverfleet will start the African Cargo service early January 2007. The B747 F will fly from Brussels to destinations like Kinshasa (Congo), Luanda (Angola), Libreville (Gabon) and Nairobi (Kenya) for distribution in West- and South-Africa, while returning back to Brussels from Nairobi with perishables. With four frequencies per week initially, Silverfleet will offer to forwarders and shippers up to 800 tons of capacity each week. "Silverfleet and its subsidiaries are well experienced with the specific requirements of serving the African continent," says Jozef Mergan, Managing Partner of Silverfleet. "The partnership with Evergreen and Interstate, we signed today, will give Brussels a "revival" of its key position in cargo services to and from Africa. With the long-term development of our service we are also looking into a smaller aircraft distribution in Africa." Interstate Airlines is currently operating A300 cargo aircraft and passenger aircraft in Europe. "We are excited to start a 747 Cargo fleet and support Silverfleet in servicing the increasing demand of cargo to and from the African continent," explains Roberto Stinga, President of Interstate. Evergreen International Airlines, who is currently operating 13 Boeing 747 Freighters, will supply the aircraft for this new Silverfleet project. "Evergreen is well experienced in Africa and Europe and is excited to share this competence with its partners Silverfleet and Interstate," states Brian Bauer, President of Evergreen Airlines. "With our 747 extension and two further aircraft arriving early next year, we are looking for new markets. Africa, next to China and India, is a key market for us and this Silverfleet project will be a well suited strategic partnership for Evergreen."
