The aircraft will transport relief supplies to the nation of Sri Lanka, hard hit during the recent earthquake/ tsunami disaster, on January 18th. Evergreen’s donation includes the use of a Boeing 747 freighter aircraft, fuel, crew, insurance, maintenance, flight logistics and cargo storage, handling, loading and unloading. "We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross in support of the international Red Cross response to help the people of Sri Lanka," says Evergreen Humanitarian and Relief Services President Blythe Berselli. "Evergreen has established a legacy of assisting those in need and we hope this flight impacts some of the five million people requiring urgent aid as a result of this disaster." Evergreen’s aircraft will deliver approximately 200,000 pounds of mobile kitchen sets and other relief supplies. The relief supplies have been procured by American Red Cross and once the relief supplies have arrived at Colombo International Airport, Red Cross will manage the logistics and transportation related to supply distribution.
