To perform functions assigned in the painting and stripping processes of aircraft and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Researches technical data and performs aircraft painting functions applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations and EAC policies and procedures.
Cleans, sands, and applies chemical solutions to prepare and condition surfaces prior to painting.
Mixes and thins paint or other coatings to specified color and consistency according to standard formulas or color charts.
Masks and covers surface not to be painted.
Sprays specified amount of thickness of primer, protective, decorative, or finish coatings, such as paint, lacquer, sealer, or enamel onto prepared surfaces using spray equipment.
Performs maintenance work such as repair and maintenance of company equipment and shop housecleaning.
Strips, Sands masks, and insignias, symbols, designs, or other markings on aircraft according to blueprints or specifications, using stencils patterns, measuring instruments, brushes, or spray equipment.
Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings.
Sets up portable ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding prior to painting.
Ensures that proper documentation is made on training record for training received, and signed by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Operates lifting and moving devices to move materials and equipment and access areas to be painted.
Performs duties of the Lead Painter in his/her absence.
Experience: One to five years painting experience required.
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required
