Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Technically responsible to the Director of Engineering for the application of the engineering discipline research, develop, modify, and reconfigure aircraft powerplants (including APUS) as necessary to ensure safety, adherence to FAA requirements and airworthiness of Company aircraft.
2. Provide technical expertise in support of powerplant operational readiness of the fleet through assistance to the Maintenance department, including field support if required. Define appropriate preventive or corrective maintenance actions and implement these through the use of Engineering Orders, Alert Bulletins, letters or verbal information.
3. Maintain continued surveillance of all powerplants for all aircraft types in the fleet to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, directives, component manufactures service bulletins, and Company minimum equipment lists.
4. Review Company Maintenance and Inspection procedures and other related documentation for conformity to current industry standards and practices, appropriate FAA sections, Ads and manufacturers SBs.
5. Initiate fleet standardization of aircraft powerplants studies within given fleet types wherever it appears economically advisable to do so. Submit recommendations to Director Powerplant Logistics for action.
6. Ensure retention of fleet performance through coordination with the reliability group and reliability program.
7. Perform additional duties as directed by the Vice President of Powerplant.
